Ed Barger graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering and from Southern Methodist University with a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering before most of you were born. After over 25 years in the Aerospace business, it was time to move on and start his own business. Having worked his way through high school and college in the electrical supply business, it seemed natural to begin an electrical supply company… and Landscape Lighting Supply was born. Ed serves as the staff engineer – designing fixtures, LED’s, shields, brackets, tree mounts, and other hardware that needs to be custom manufactured. Another one of his job titles is “Manager of Strategery”. When not working, Ed can be found on his motorcycle, where he has ridden in 40 of our 50 states, and is making plans for the remaining 10 states in the next few years. JD Young has been in the lighting industry for 25 years, where he has spent the last 18 years strictly in landscape lighting. JD’s training has included factory tours and seminars from some of the top manufacturers in the industry. His 24 years of experience has given JD the knowledge and skill to help the customer through all phases of a landscape lighting project, from fixture choice to the final design. JD and his wife, Stacey, live in Dallas and are the proud parents of their son Brandon, dog Jack, and 2 cats – Fatso & Maggie (feel free to harass JD about his overweight cat). When not at work, you can find JD on the golf course, sipping margaritas with his wife at his favorite Mexican restaurants, or cheering Brandon on the sidelines from one of his numerous sporting events. Amy Mina came on board the family business in 1995 after graduating from the University of Texas at Austin with a BBA in Marketing. Since then, she has completed numerous factory training seminars and trade exhibitions in the lighting industry. As the “Business Manager”, Amy wears a lot of hats at the company, ranging from accounting, to sales and purchasing, marketing, advertising, and customer service to name a few. Over her 15+ years at the company, Amy has produced and organized several design and technical seminars for Landscape Lighting Supply’s customers from around the state. Amy lives in Dallas with her Aggie husband, John, two boys Will and Harrison, and Australian Shepherd, Merry Claire. When she is not working, Amy enjoys Legos, superheroes, Star Wars, and other boy-mom activities with her family. Melissa Chapman graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelors degree in Communication Studies. After graduating, Melissa worked for 2 years at a boutique IT Consulting Company in Plano, TX as a Technical Recruiter. Then in December 2001, when Landscape Lighting Supply was preparing to move into their new, fabulous building, it was clear that the family business was booming and needed some extra hands. So in January 2002, Melissa joined the Landscape Lighting Supply team, where she learned from the best of best in JD and Amy! Over her 9 year tenure at Landscape Lighting, Melissa has attended numerous landscape lighting workshops, including the Hadco Seminar in San Marcos, TX and Unique University in San Diego, CA, and has even given several presentations to numerous landscaping groups in the Dallas, TX area. Melissa brings her technical knowledge to the Landscape Lighting team; she spearheaded the redesign of the Landscape Lighting website, writes the Landscape Lighting monthly e-newsletter, and designed Landscape Lighting Supply’s first ever “stocked items” printed catalog. Melissa and her husband, Trey, live in Dallas, and are the parents to Ellie (the Landscape Lighting “shop puppy”), and two sons, Tyler & Graham. When not at work, you can find Melissa and Trey in Austin, TX cheering on their Texas Longhorns or volunteering throughout the Dallas community. |
